The Sri Lankan Cricket Board has come up with a ban on the noisy horns that are brought into the match venue by few spectators. The ban will be immediately implemented from tomorrow’s 4th ODI between Sri Lanka and India at Colombo.

The ban on horns seems to be influenced by popular TV commentator and ex-English cricketer Tony Greig. The former English all-rounder was very vocal about discouraging the fans from bringing the horns as he feels that they were unnecessarily causing noise pollution and nothing more. The vuvuzelas or simply the plastic horns have the potential of causing permanent deafness!

A television visual during the 3rd ODI showed Tony Greig gesturing to a section of the crowd to stop blowing their horns. Greig however is fine with the music bands that often come to play during the cricket.

On his twitter account, Tony Greig said “Vuvuzelas and horns should be banned from all SL cricket grounds as they are in Australia. All they produce is noise. Bands fine.” In another tweet, Greig wrote” Thanks for all the support on banning vuvuzelas viewers asking us to turn down TV effects.”
